Where: City of Miami Neighborhoods of Liberty City, Little Haiti, Overtown, Little Havana, Allapattah, and Wynwood.

Who:  Miami-Dade County Public School Students in Grade 11

Featured Artists include: Daniel Fila, Serge Toussaint, Purvis Young, Erni Vales,

Aristides Pumariega and Ralph Allen

 

Collaborators include: Purvis Young Foundation, Purvis Young Gallery, Wynwood Walls, Wynwood Kitchen and Bar, MLK Mural Project, Bridges Aderhold Gallery, Miguel Peredes Gallery, CubaOcho Art and Research Center, Erni Vales Studio, the Bakehouse Art Complex, Cafeina Gallery and Fundacion Apoge Arte Publico Global, Michael Margulies Artist Agency

 

Students will meet urban muralists whose work has impacted the community by influencing social change, community empowerment, and creating awareness for history and culture.  Over Ten artists, Six neighborhoods, Ten community-based organizations, Ten galleries, thirty five murals are involved in the project.

 

The project will increase pride for ones’ neighborhood, enhance awareness about art, explain how art can empower the artist, the community and influence positive change. The project will also increase knowledge about the history and culture of Miami’s diverse neighborhoods.
